Goal: Visual discrimination

It's a scandal! A wrongdoer is having fun copying original works of art. You must help Inspector Goodview spot the fake paintings by detecting their imperfections. Will you be the most skilled and quickest observer?

Counterfeit is a game designed to help children ages 5 to 10 develop selective attention and visual discrimination skills. Players observe a series of images that have slight differences between them. They must find as quickly as possible the card identical to the one turned over on a pile in order to win it. The different levels offered make it a progressive game suited to each child's abilities.

The game includes 84 cards and offers four levels of difficulty with increasingly subtle differences between the images. Comparing images also calls on the child's short-term memory. Indeed, to become skilled at the game, the player benefits from memorizing the features that distinguish the images in order to guide their search. This feature sets the game apart from a more classic visual search game and makes it a little harder than the game Budding Hunters.

Why this game?

Around age 5, children are able to show selective attention and focus their attention in a visual discrimination task. These skills will develop quickly in the coming years and will be heavily called upon throughout their schooling.
